In recent years, vaping has emerged as a prominent public health concern, particularly among teenagers. With the rise of e-cigarettes, which are often marketed as a safer alternative to traditional tobacco products, it is crucial to investigate the effects of vaping on young individuals. This science investigatory project aims to explore the various dimensions of vaping, including its chemical composition, health implications, and social influences.
As the popularity of vaping among teenagers increases, it is essential to understand what substances these devices deliver. E-cigarettes typically contain nicotine, flavoring agents, and a base of propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin. When vaporized and inhaled, these chemicals can have numerous effects on the body, especially in developing adolescents whose brains are still maturing. Research shows that nicotine exposure during teenage years can lead to long-term addiction and may impair cognitive functions.
To assess the real-world implications of vaping among teenagers, we conducted surveys across local high schools.
